Do you listen to Radio Lab? Have you heard the episode about Color? If not, listen right now! Seriously, it's totally fascinating. In the first segment, the guys discuss the seven colors that humans can percieve (that's ROY G BiV to you!), illustrating the spectrum with a choir (!) then go on to talk about creatures that can see many more colors, including the winner, the mantis shrimp, which has a whopping 16 color receptors!
In honor of this brilliant episode and the oh-so colorful 2013 Resort collections, I thought I would highlight some favorites, rainbow-style.

Color Week - Blue and Purple

First off, I apologize for how dreadfully late this is, and on the last day too! I didn't work at home today, so what I should have done was write this last night but instead I got stuck in a heroes marathon. Man, that's a good show.
Anyway, enough about my television habits, today is Blue and Purple day! I love all shades of blue. Actually, one thing I learned this week is that I never met a color I didn't like. I felt like every day I was thinking, "oh yay! my favorite color!" Another thing I learned is that I need more purple in my life. How is it that I have every color in my house but purple?
Ok, let's look at some pictures!

The foyer of style icon Tifanny Dubin. There are so many things I love about this picture: how the girl's dresses echo the colors of the room, how a wall treatment that could have gone in a bad way looks so fresh and modern, how shiny the floors are. I think it's safe to say this is my dream foyer, and I am nerdy enough to dream about foyers.

An image from one of my favorite John Galliano seasons ever. If you're wondering, that would be Spring 2003. I'm sure the models did not enjoy being airbrushed with blue paint but it makes for a gorgeous picture, no?

Color Week - Orange

Sorry for the delay today; i'm trying to get all sorts of un-fun things done-invoices, cleaning up my computer folders, organizing the pile of fabric on my craft room floor.
Now on to the fun stuff!
Today is orange day. I have to say, growing up, I was never a fan of orange then suddenly, I owned six midcentury orange dining chairs and was painting my living room the color of a papaya. Go figure! Orange goes amazing well with blue (they're complimentary colors!) so if you have a blue room (or a blue kitchen table like me!), it's a great idea to pop a little orange in there.
I also love orange with dark browns, charcoal grey and hot pink. What about you? How does orange fit into your life?

Yesterday, The Mr. and I made peach pancakes and I served everything on orange dishes. I think that Mr. Loveforever thinks I'm a little nutty. I bought those hot pink and orange napkins at a hospital thrift shop in Connecticut. What a find! The plate and mug are from Anthropologie.

Someday I will have a gorgeous orange bathroom like designer Todd Romano.

Color Week - Red and Pink

Welcome to the first day of Color Week! I am so excited (and slightly intimidated) that so many people are getting involved.
Red and pink are two of my favorite colors. I love that they can convey so many things in their different tones and shades, from a sugary sweet pink to a dramatic powerful red.
